03. Sep 2022 / PlayBern Workshop

03. Sep 2022 / PlayBern Workshop

10am-1pm Central European Time (CET)

A FREE sensory game design workshop with designer and theorist Chris Solarski at PlayBern: Games and Culture Festival.

The unique ingredient that distinguishes video games from other creative media is the rich and varied ways in which they animate us. To truly understand gaming’s artistic scope we must equally examine games designed to settle and calm our bodies as well as those intended to thrill and excite, and the entire spectrum in-between. This workshop offers both newcomers and experienced designers a new methodology for designing games that advocate physical empathy, diversity, and inclusivity.

No previous experience is necessary, just a playful and participatory attitude.

  • FREE Registration: workshop@playbern.ch or on-site at the festival centre
  • Results will be presented on Saturday from 17:00 until 17:30

Since 2019, the PlayBern Festival has been presenting the creative side of gaming to a broad audience. Complete novice or seasoned nerd? Person with a disability or without? Young or old? There is a lot to discover for everyone in the world of non-commercial games at the PlayBern Festival! For three days, you can play and try out games without limits. In addition, presentations and workshops will provide insights into topics such as “cultural mediation through games,” new games for children and the analogue and digital artistic exploration of game themes. PlayBern will also award a children’s game prize.
